Elevating the living experience through sustainable design

Kingswood home epitomises Archea Architects' values to create "environments full of life" bound by a north-facing landscape. Designed to become a healing space away from the rigours of daily life, the residence is built within an expansive landscape.

As a family home, it is crucial to be innovative and adaptive with effective use of space while still radiating warmth and comfort. Therefore, Kingswood is sectioned based on functionality, including communal areas for gatherings and family interaction and personal corners for the individuals like the study. Moreover, the living spaces are filled with texture, rich materials, and customised design details so each member can let their personality shine through in the home.

The ground floor is dedicated to gatherings and recreations. The back courtyard offers a verdant and relaxed outlook, complete with a BBQ and a pool ideal for weekend activities. Furthermore, with the expert use of glass windows and panels, the home is filled with northern light and flushed with fresh air. The indoor consists of the living room, kitchen, dining room and a guest living area, from which the living area marks the central hub of the home. It is tucked behind sloping timber rooflines, a slate plinth and a dark wood pattern. The timber ceiling and dark wood pattern flow through to the dining and kitchen area, visually connecting these spaces

The upper-storey addition is the retreat for the children. The storey is encased on the western facade with windows facing north for soft, even natural light all day from a northern exposure. Robust, honest materials and lively finishes were used to lighten an interior space.

Kingswood delivers textural spaces that are rich in materials and palette. The lighting accentuates the fabric of the house. Layers of ceiling and wall lights foster the vibrant mood of the interior, encompassing the house with warmth and serenity.
