Little Creatures Elizabeth Quay

Riverfront Warmth for a Perth Hospitality Icon

The project features a generous corridor, creating space for people to pause, sit and talk. Rooms stretch along this corridor, taking on the rhythm of a neighbourhood street, where doors open onto a shared path and connection happens naturally between destinations. There is also a sense of continuity in what has been brought forward. Furniture carried over from the previous premises reinforces a sense of familiarity, allowing elements of its former space and history to continue within its new home.

A bold interior palette brings a distinctly Fitzroy character, where red and green tones sit alongside natural materials, giving the space its own sense of identity. Designed beyond the conventions of traditional institutional spaces, the project feels layered and inviting, reflecting the energy and individuality of the neighbourhood beyond its walls.

Lighting complements this approach through a considered balance of ambient and focused illumination. Warm light accentuates the texture and colour of the interiors, whilst more focused lighting help define individual areas and moments throughout the building. The lighting feels at a balance, allowing the character of the architecture to truly be highlighted.

Fitzroy Learning Network feels less like a building designed for a community but more like a place that has grown from one. It demonstrates how thoughtful design can turn everyday spaces into places of connection, creating a sense of belonging that extends well beyond the walls of the building.
